Today i am very glad to be here to share with you my ideas of success. what is success? it is what everyone is longing success would be rather simple. winning a game is success; getting a high grade in the exam is success; making a new friend is success; even now i am standing here giving my speech is somehow also success.

However, as a person’s whole life is concerned, success becomes very complicated. is fortune success? is fame success? is high social status success? no, i don’t think so. i believe success is the realization of people’s hopes and , in the modern society there are many people who are regarded as the successful. and the most obvious characteristics of hem are money, high position and luxurious life. so most people believe that s success and all that they do is for this purpose. but the problem is wether it is real success. we all know there are always more money, higher position and better condition in front of us. if we keep chasing them, where is the end? what will satisfy us at last? therefore, we can see, to get the real success we must need something inside, which is the realization of people’ hopes and ideals.

Different people have different ideas about success; cause people’s hopes and ideas vary from one another. but i am sure every success is dear to everybody, cause it is not easy to come by, because in the process of our striving for success, we got both our body and soul tempted, meanwhile we are enlightened by the most valuable qualities of human beings: love, patient, courage and sense of responsibility. these are the best treasures. so now i am very proud that i have this opportunity to stand here speaking to all of you. it is my success, cause i raise up to challenge my hope.

What is success? everyone has his own interpretation as i do. but i am sure

every success leads to an ever-brighter future. so ladies and gentlemen, believe in our hopes, believe in ourselves, we, every one of us, can make a successful life!

To me march28th was a lucky day. it was on that particular evening that i found myself at central stage, in the spotlight. winning the21st century·ericsson cup seventh national english speaking competition is a memory that i shall treasure and one that will surely stay.

More important than winning the cup is the friendship that has been established and developed among the contestants, and the chance to communicate offstage in addition to competing onstage. also the competition helps boost public speaking in china, a skill hitherto undervalued.

For me, though, the competition is a more personal experience. habitually shy, i had been reluctant to take part in any such activities. encouraged by my friends, however, i made a last-minute decision to give it a try. in the course of preparation i somehow rediscovered myself, a truer me.

I found that, after all, i like communicating with other people; that exchanging views can be so much fun—and so much rewarding, both emotionally and intellectually; that public speaking is most effective when you are least guarded; and that it is essential to success in every walk of a more practical level, i realized knowing what you are going to say and how you are going to say it are equally important. to take the original ideas out of your head and transplant them, so to speak, to that of others, you need to have an organized mind. this ability improves with training.

Yet there should not be any loss or addition or distortion in the process. those ideas that finally find their way into another head need to be recognizably yours. language is a means to transmit information, not a means to obstruct communication. it should be lucid to be penetrating.

In china, certain public speaking skills have been unduly emphasized. will it really help, we are compelled to ask, to bang at the podium or yell at the top of your lungs, if you have come with a poorly organized speech, a muddled mind, and unwillingness to truly share your views?

Above all, the single most important thing i learnt was that as a public speaker, you need to pay attention, first and foremost, to the content of your speech. and second, the structure of your speech: how one idea relates and progresses to another.

Only after these come delivery and non-verbal communication: speed control, platform manner, and so on. pronunciation is important, yet of greater importance is this: is your language competent enough to express your ideas exactly the way you intend them to be understood?

i was informed afterwards that i was chosen to be the winner for my appropriately worded speech, excellent presence and quick-witted response. in so remarking, the judges clearly showed their preference: they come to listen for meaningful ideas, not for loose judgments, nor easy laughters.

Some contestants failed to address their questions head on. some were able to, but did not know where to stop—the dragging on betrayed their lack of confidence. the root cause was that they did not listen attentively to the questions. or they were thinking of what they had prepared.

Honorable judges, ladies and gentlemen,

Good evening. It’s my great pleasure to stand here to present my speech. What I am going to talk about today is the road to success.

There is no doubt that everyone wants to achieve success. Me either. But what is success and how can we succeed? In my opinion, success is just like climbing mountains. If you want to reach the top of the mountain, you have to keep climbing up step by step and overcome all the difficulties during the way. There is no easy way to climb up without paying. Likewise, there is no elevator to success, you have to take stairs.

I’m sure you guys have all tried doing a lot of new things. Whether it’s learning a new instrument , or learning a new language. You know , everyone who tells you that the stuff is easy that you can do it overnight is clearly wrong. Everything that is worth doing is pretty hard. I mean, you guys know that firsthand from your experience. In order to master piano, you have to practice scales everyday to strengthen your fingers no matter how boring it is; to learn a foreign language well, you have to start with the very basics and learn step by step. All these achievements, you know, it’s not about a single moment of inspiration or brilliance, it’s about years and years of hard work and practice. When it comes to success, there are no shortcuts.

To clarify my view, I would like to give an example. Michael Jordan, the basketball superstar, its easy for you to see his achievements. However, what you don’t see is the price of blood and sweat that he has paid on the court in order to come out on top. If you think that he was born to play basketball and is destined to succeed, I’d like to say that you couldn’t be more wrong. Do you know the story that Jordan was cut from his high school basketball team because of his height? Instead of giving up,he trained harder and made more effort to shoot on court. Finally, he succeeded and became a popular basketball player. To Jordan,it’s not about a single moment of inspiration or brilliance, it’s about years and years of hard work and practice.

At last I would like to share a famous saying with all of you, that is: no pains, no gains. I just want you to know that success doesn’t come easily ,anything that’s really awesome takes a lot of work. But I firmly believe that as long as we make daily effort and unremitting endeavor, everyone in this room will achieve your goals and fulfill your dream.

I knew all these motivational guys, the gurus, theyre gonna be salty. They say "Go! Go! Go! Hustle hard, skip sleep, make money.

Thats cool! It has its place but all of that takes second priority to enjoying your life to loving the people around you cause let me tell you this.

the death of all these celebrities, the death of the people around me really got me thinking about how short life is.

and if you listen to these guys who say "Go, go, go", youre going to miss whats important. youre gonna find yourself climbing up a ladder and if you get to the top, thats if, you get to the top youre gonna realize dang...

it was really against the wrong wall, I promise you there are a lot of successful people in the graveyard right now.

That would happily, I guarantee you, happily give anything to be Above-ground one more day so that they can tell their family, to tell their friends, that they love them. Just one more time.

Because thats whats important as the old saying goes"There has never been a deathbed regret. That went "Boy, I wish Id spent more time in the office." Or "Boy, I wish I spent more time hustling". Or "Boy, I wish I spent more time making more money." It was Jack Kornfield who said "In the end ;ONLY THREE THINGS REALLY MATTER.

So listen to me brother, Im not saying dont be successful

Theres nothing wrong with financial success. But say Im an entrepreneur myself. I like money.

In fact, Im gonna tell you a secret. I dont think you can get too much money but if money gets you.

Thats too much If money becomes your god If you make a million dollars, but lose your friends, and your family, in the process, Is that success? If you make a billion dollars, but lose your health in the process, is that success?

These guys talk about dont sleep what you mean "Dont sleep". What do you mean "Dont sleep?" Sleep is more important in your diet and exercise program combined. You cant think clearly if you dont sleep.

You ever felt bad for enjoying yourself? Like "Oh I should be doing this, I should be doing that." But you should be doing exactly what youre doing now, fully. Whether thats thats watching a movie. Whether thats, enjoying a night out with friends, you should be doing that fully.

Dont let these guys, these gurus, guilt trip you out of enjoying your life, or taking care of you.

Dont let your ambition become your prison Imagine you grind hard every day for years and you finally get the dream car you always wanted, but you dont have anybody in that passenger seat to ride with you.

Youre driving so fast, you dont even appreciate the breeze blowing through your hair.

Your hand you better slow down. Slow down and enjoy this thing called life. Enjoy the moments. You only have a limited number of them.

Stop always grinding. See when youre grinding, youre going to get something. You need to flow with life.

Flow. Stop and smell the flowers and give other people the flowers while they, still smell them. Because in the end...

Every success calls for hard work. If you want to suc-ceed, work hard first.

It is said that failure is the mother of success. success will be gained after times of failures so long as we are good at drawong lesson from our failures.

in my opinion , failure is not a bad thing , the really bad thing is taking a failure as failure or even lose our heart after failure.

More importantly, today, the world is undergoing fast rhythm of changing, some issues occur in one way this time and reoccur in another way that instability and inconstancy make many long-time-lasting conventions and traditions not valid any longer. People encounter pile of new conditions everyday in current society, it is hard to find adequate reference from the wisdom of conventions for all of these new thing, what can really lead people to success is rational mind and creative ways of thinking. To meet the requirement of new missions, only creative activities could give out adaptive strategies. Without creative thinking ways, there would no such increasingly development of science and technology in the past two centuries, no new type America-style democracy in the world, no so many products making modern life so comfortable and convenient. Creative practices and original idea are the engine of the fast development of modern life, and are most essential for people to accomplish successful achievement in all kinds of fields.

Good morning. Ladies and gentlemen. Life has its ups and downs. I bet everyone here has gone through success and failures, am I right? Therefore, whats your understanding of success and failure? What do you think is the biggest success in ones life? XXX, can you share your idea with us?

Personally, I think success and failure are terms that dont necessarily call for a universal definition since all of us have our own definitions. That is to say, people can be successful in different areas such as in ones job and hobbies, living a successful private life, or running a successful relationship. Assume that there are two men, one is wealthy and the other is needy. The wealthy one loves making money and is always busy with his work. He is satisfied with his business though he hardly has time to have dinner with his wife and children. The needy one loves leisure. He has an easy but low-paid job so that he can have time to spend

with his family. In general, he could have delicious and warm dinner with his families every day. Hes happy, too. Which one do you think is more successful in his life? In my opinion, they are both successful because they both get what they want.

Everyone will be successful in his or her own area. So, never look down on anyone including yourself. One of my friends is crazy about computer games, thus neglecting his study. All the teachers regarded him as a failure. But actually he is successful in the games. He has won the first prize in many E-sports games.

Another example to support my statement. I think that everyone knows Luo Yufeng who is in America now. Severals years ago, she was under the spotlight and attracted a strong criticism. It seemed that her life was utterly a failure since everyone was laughing at her. But, I think she is successful not because she’s famous but she wanted to immigrant to America and achieved.

In many cases, whether we are successful or not is judged by others, actually, we should judge it by

ourselves. As long as you have your own goal, you know exactly what you want, you are successful when you achieve it. So, leave all the negative comments outside the door. Be yourself, follow your own cause and enjoy your own success!
